Vitamin C and Your Skin

 

Vitamin C is the main antioxidant in the skin and helps to make collagen as well as stop it being broken down. The sun, pollution and smoking can all cause damage to the skin and so called "oxidative stress". This all leads to a cascade of events that causes photo-damage, premature ageing of the skin and even predispose you to skin cancer.

 

Unlike plants, humans are unable to make vitamin C so we rely entirely on diet or applying it to our skin topically. Even with high intake of vitamin C our body is only able to absorb a small amount and only a fraction will be active in our skin. For all these reasons it is so important to apply a good quality vitamin C serum to our skin!
